You must be at least 18 years old to use Eckow. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.
User Conduct
You agree not to use the Service to:
- • Post, share, or transmit false emergency alerts, spam, adverts, or non-emergency content to the #Emergency channel or your community's designated emergency hashtag.
- • Trigger false alarms, hoaxes, or staged incidents to attract attention or manipulate the platform.
- • Upload, distribute, or promote pornographic, sexually explicit, or obscene content.
- • Upload or distribute content that incites violence, fear, hatred, panic, or unlawful behavior.
- • Abuse the platform for political propaganda, religious extremism, or any form of misinformation.
- • Impersonate another person, group, or organization.
Violation of these terms may result in suspension, permanent ban, and referral to law enforcement authorities.
Use of Posted Content
Any content you upload—including messages, videos, location data, and audio—may be accessible to:
- • Law enforcement authorities
- • Community moderators
- • Other Eckow users in your vicinity or connected channel
By posting, you acknowledge that such content may be used as evidence in investigations or legal proceedings. You waive any privacy rights over such content when shared publicly or in emergency channels.
Content Usage Rights
You grant Eckow a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and distribute any content you post to provide and promote the Service.
Subscription and Fees
- • All subscription fees paid to Eckow are non-refundable, regardless of service uptime or accuracy.
- • Eckow reserves the right to change pricing and service plans with reasonable notice.
Emergencies and Accuracy Disclaimer
- • Eckow does not guarantee that emergency alerts will reach security operatives, emergency responders, or nearby users.
- • Location services may be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable in certain conditions.
- • Eckow is not responsible for any loss of life, injury, property damage, or missed emergency response resulting from the use of the Service.
Availability and Maintenance
- • The Eckow platform may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, network failure, or force majeure.
- • We do not guarantee continuous uptime, reliable GPS coordinates, or real-time delivery of alerts.
Business Promotion Feature
Besides emergencies, Eckow enables users to promote local businesses to nearby customers and foster community interactions for sharing meaningful information. However, advertising content under the #Emergency, #Distress, or any other designated emergency hashtags is prohibited.
Privacy and Data
- • We collect location data and device information to deliver the Service.
- • Personal data is not shared with external parties unless in the case of an investigation by security authorities.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms or engages in unlawful, abusive, or harmful behavior.
Modifications
We may revise these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria. Any legal dispute shall be settled under the applicable laws of Nigeria.
Emergency Service Disclaimer
By using Eckow, you acknowledge that this service is designed to assist in emergencies and improve community safety. In situations that pose an immediate threat to life, please try to trigger a distress call via Eckow, and you should always contact your local emergency services when possible. Eckow complements, not replaces, traditional emergency services.
